Day 6
Day 6
In the tall green forest, there lived a big brown bear. His name was Barry. Barry the big brown bear lived alone in the forest, and he wasn't used to visitors. Everyday, Barry would leave his little wooden house and look for apples to pick from the trees for his breakfast, lunch and dinner. Barry ate his breakfast apples first, and carried the rest back to his house. When Barry got home, he would try to push all of the apples into his house, but it was too small! Instead, Barry left them outside, on his front garden. As nobody else lived in the tall green forest, the apples would always be there, just as Barry needed them.
One day, it was lunchtime, so Barry went outside to eat some of the apples he had collected that morning. But all of the apples were gone! Barry was confused and furious. He let out an big roar, which shook the trees in the tall green forest. "Who took my apples?!" Barry cried, but there was no reply. "That pile of apples was huge!", Barry thought, "Whoever took them, they can't have gone far!"
To find his apples, Barry looked all around his house, and further out into the forest, but there was no sign of his apples anywhere. Barry's tummy rumbled, and he start to feel weak. 'I, need to find more apples', Barry said. Thankfully, there were some more apples on trees further out into the forest. Barry went deeper and deeper into the forest, picking and eating the apples on the trees as he went. The forest was getting darker and darker, and soon, Barry was lost!
"Oh no!" shouted Barry, "I'm lost! Help me!". Barry's call for help echoed around the forest, and soon, Barry started to hear footsteps approaching... Lots of footsteps!
Barry was amazed as an enormous group of ants scuttled towards him. He'd never anyone else in the forest before, so this was a big shock! "We can carry you home!" said the ants.
"But how?" asked Barry. "You're all so small, and I'm so big!"
"Don't worry! We're strong because we've eaten lots of apples!" they replied.
Barry gently lent backwards, and the ants picked him up and carried him all the way home over the forest. When Barry got home, he was even more surprised; all of his apples had come back! "How have all of my apples come back?" Barry asked.
"Oh dear, they were your apples..." the ants said quietly. Barry's smile became a frown. "We're sorry", began the ants. "We were passing through this part of the forest. When we travel around, there are always apples on the trees that we can eat, but when we came through this part of the forest, we couldn't find any apples anywhere. We were really hungry, but then we found the apples outside your house. We carried away and ate them, but we travelled far to replace them again!
Barry looked hard at all of the ants, but then he smiled. "I didn't know that there were other people who needed the apples too. Tomorrow, I'll share them with you!"
From that day on, Barry and the ants travelled around the forest together, picking and eating apples along the way. Sometimes, the ants would carry Barry around, and he would carry them on his big tall shoulders. They all lived happily ever after.
