Day 11
Day 11:
Derek was a playful little rectangle. He liked to tell jokes and make the other shapes laugh. When Sebastian the cube was struggling with his jigsaw puzzle, Derek quipped "Come on Sebastian, you just need to think outside the box!". This made Sebastian laugh, and helped him to solve the puzzle. Then, when Janice the hexagon was explaining the concept of acute angles to Terry the triangle at great length, Derek calmed the situation with "Janice, aren't you being a little obtuse?"
Unfortunately, not everyone found Derek's jokes funny. One day, Sara the oval looked sad, so Derek decided to try and cheer her up. "Hey, why the long face?" he asked.
"That's the problem!" cried Sara. "Nobody wants to play with me because they say that I have a 2-D personality! All the mean circles say that I'm irregular, and that's not true at all! My axis' are perfectly symmetrical." Derek wasn't quite sure what to do; all the shapes normally felt better when he told a joke. Then, he had an idea.
"I'll play with you, Sara!" said Derek, "and I'll bring my parallelogram friends with me!".
"You will?" replied Sara.
"Of course," said Derek. "After all, we are all shapes, we can always play together! But, can we please not have races? You can roll along, but it's really hard for me to flip on my sides!"
"Oh Derek," said Sara, "You are a right angle."
