Day 51

Day 51:

You can tell when a hotel is evil. In the daytime, most hotels appear inviting, warm, and often grand. Those that don't are the rather sad hotels. They aren't evil, they just wish that they could have a lovely new renovation. It is at night when the evil hotels show their true colours.

When night falls upon a humble and kind hotel, pale yellow and blue outside lights cascade down their softly painted exterior walls. Warm yellows light up the reception hall and the odd guest room window, with chatter and homely smells emanating from the attached eatery. Meanwhile, the evil hotels have a different aura entirely.

Harsh, bright white floodlights shine up towards the sky, leaning against the whitewashed outside walls. Towering, imposing their luminescent over the other buildings. Dark streaks of shadows break the beams of light, cutting sharp, vicious angles. All of the guestrooms have drawn curtains, with tiny slithers of white light poking out, before vanishing into the darkness beyond. Those are the hotels you need to watch out for, the ones that tend to have masonry or metal in the shapes of ghoulish creatures on their doorsteps.

They also tend to have good reviews though, so what do I know?
