Day 67

Day 67:

The pouring rain and howling winds could not stand in the path of the mighty bus service. Even in the treacherous conditions, the driver was getting to stops at a rapid speed, even arriving early at a few (much to the annoyance of the would-be passengers running from the other end of the road). Those who did board the bus were slightly alarmed by the speed, struggling to stay in place whilst going around corners. Dishevelled, one passenger stumbled and climbed their way to the front of the bus to ask the driver what the sudden rush was, especially in the awful weather. But they didn't need to get that far to figure out why.

On the front seat, sat directly across from the driver, was a sharply dressed, bushy-tailed corgi, sat up straight, just as a person would sit. Their dark sunglasses were piercing directly into the back of the driver's head, unshaken by the bumps and wobbles of the bus. Occasionally, the driver looked over her shoulder at the dog, unnerved by his manner. He hadn't even bought a ticket, but was immovable from the seat. Despite having been there since nearly the start of the route.

On and on the bus went, picking up (but mostly dropping off) passengers until it arrived at the final stop of the route. As the doors opened, the dog stepped out onto the wet pavement, suitcase in paw. As he walked along, he got a lot of funny looks from passers-by, stopping to stare in the pouring rain, but not daring to go closer. After a few minutes of walking, the dog walked through the golden arches and automatic doors of the local Mcdonald's store. Temporarily putting the briefcase down, he hopped up onto the card reader, and began to operate one of the self-service food machines. Whilst mopping up the small puddle that had accumulated around the door, the server turned his head and stared, watching the dog customise his Paw Patrol Happy Meal. He cried out in horror; "Oh no! It's that dog again!"

Customers on tables shrieked, fries flew up into the air as people saw the dog in a suit grab his suitcase and scarper, on all four legs, out of the automatic doors again. It was such a shame: those staff members had been shooing that dog for weeks, but they didn't know that his little briefcase was full of enough money to run their store for years to come. Highly intelligent dogs are very generous to humans, Either that, or his pack over at the train station didn't explain the exchange rate properly...
