Day 112
Day 112:
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands.
But what do you do if you aren't happy?
What do you do if you are sad?
What do you do if you might be happy, but you're not sure?
The song offers no alternatives to happiness,
nor actions to use as a mark of distress.
Should you simply, not clap?
Such an action could have multiple interpretations.
The song takes it's lack of clarity one step further,
adding additional conditions as it goes on.
If you are happy and you know it,
AND you really want to show it.
What if you are happy, and you know it,
but you'd rather keep it to yourself?
Do you then join the 'No clap club'?
You'd be joining the sad people and the people who aren't sure,
and the people who are happy and do know it but can't be bothered,
which is what is making them happy.
This song is a black hole of ambiguity,
and should do better at pointing out sadness.
It is very important to be seen and heard.
